Suppose your internet connection incidentally goes down or you’re in a situation where your smartphone is only connected to the web. In that case, it will be quite convenient by turning it into a Wi-Fi hotspot. By establishing up a Wi-Fi hotspot, you can make your phone into an internet source so that you can use your tablets, laptop or other phones.

The procedure is simple and you can do it effortlessly. But you have to know where to go. Most of the leading carriers offer tethering services, although making a Wi-Fi hotspot relies on your data allowance and service plan. You have to remember one thing that tethering drains the battery life. Here some steps are included in the following by which you can know how to set up a Wi-Fi hotspot on your Android, iPhone, Laptop and Windows Phone.

Create a Wi-Fi Hotspot on An Android Phone

How can you access Wi-Fi hotspots on your android that will depend on which devices you are using and which version is running on your android phone. On a Samsung smartphone, you can navigate to Connections > Mobile Hotspot And Tethering > Mobile Hotspot and just toggle it on.

You will see a pop-up window and there you will find the device’s Wi-Fi password that you want to connect. On LG, pull down the screen from the top and select Settings > Tethering. Then, turn the Wi-Fi switch to on. On Google Pixel, pull down the screen from the top and go to Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & Tethering > Wi-Fi Hotspot and turn the switch to on. Then the hotspot name and address will be visible on the screen.

If you live in the United States, this process can require a tethering plan with your using carrier. In Google Play, there are also many third-party apps which will allow you to bypass a tethering plan. But you will have to remember that they possibly break your wireless contract with your carrier.

Make Your iPhone A Wi-Fi Hotspot

On your iPhone, navigate to Settings > Cellular and then toggle personal hotspot switch to on. After a little bit of time, it will automatically turn off if there are no devices connected with it. In the same section, you can simply turn it on. This will also need a tethering plan if you live in the United States. The App Store of the iPhone does not have any plan-bypassing hotspot apps.

Make A Windows Phone A Wi-Fi Hotspot

You can use Windows Phone 8.1, as the procedure is actually similar to Windows Phone 8 and 7.5. The difference between 7.5 and 8 is the number of devices that you can connect. The Windows Phone 8x permits you to connect maximum 8 devices. Navigate to Settings > internet sharing and toggle sharing to On to set it up on your phone. On the next screen, you will find the default login details. You can better change the login details to something easier to remember.

Connect Your Laptop or Tablet To Hotspot

You can also connect your laptop or some other device to the phone’s hotspot easily. Connect to it the way you any other Wi-Fi connects. Find the handset which is broadcasting and select it. After that, enter the password that you configure for it. The procedure of connecting your tablet or some other device to a hotspot is also the same.

Bottom Line

One more time, just remember that the results will vary, as all the service providers may not permit you to create a hotspot for free. Most of the time, you will be charged extra. It will be right to use this option depending on your budget if you are on a limited data plan. It will depend on how speedy your data connection is and also the number of connected devices at the same time.
